“You’re waiting for the right person.”
“You don’t need someone to make you feel whole”
“When you do find someone, it will be ‘extra special'”
If you’re anything like me, you may be entering your twenties and wondering “what’s wrong with me” because you haven’t been in a relationship….ever, so there must be something wrong right?
No, definitely not.
There is nothing wrong with you, just because you have chosen to stay single this far in life. You are still young, take a breath and reflect. There could be so many factors that influence this decision you’ve made.
Maybe you’ve seen all of your friends messy break ups during high school and that made you realize that you might want to wait until you mature to begin seeking out relationships. You may be career driven and you want to work your way through school and figure out who you are, before you allow someone else in or maybe….you just haven’t found it necessary until someone else did.
Remind yourself that you are allowed to have your own opinions. You are in tune with your own decisions and when that someone special in your life shows up, terrific!
Don’t sweat this minor detail within the world of growing up. There are so many other decisions you deal with during this time, keep your priorities in check. Maybe a change of scenery or grad school is on your mind….there are so many other aspects of life during your young years that deserve your attention. Don’t put your life on hold for the sake of love. Let life take its course and enjoy that ride.
Don’t let other people’s thoughts plague your mind, your relatives or friend’s opinions could cause chaos in your love life. You don’t want to rush into a relationship or become unhappy with someone just because others don’t think it’s “appropriate” that you are “still single.”
Allow yourself to handle this situation with a grain of salt.
Go about your love life as you wish, if that means dating websites, going out and meeting people or just going with the flow and seeing where life takes you….no answer is wrong. You are just as beautiful and just as worthy of a prince charming as a girl who has had several relationships.
Stay confident and push forward,
